The Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers, Inc. (PACT) participated in the 9th International Conference on Teacher Education (ICTED) with the theme, “Teacher Agency and Educational Reform: Articulations, Conditions, and Possibilities, held last September 1-3, 2016 at GT Toyota Auditorium, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
Mr. Garry D. Galvez, PACT Executive Board Member and Assistant Public Relations Officer, had a research presentation during the conference’s parallel session on Instructional Approaches, Methodologies, and Strategies on Teaching Chemistry. He discussed about the usefulness of metacognition in developing students’ visualization skills in Chemistry. During the open forum, there was a discourse on how synergistic used of qualitative and quantitative methodologies can be employed to improve Chemistry education researches.
The 9th ICTED was participated by educators, educational managers and education researchers from the government and private sectors not only in the Philippines but throughout the globe. Invited foreign resource persons include educators and educational managers from the United Kingdom, United States of America and Australia. Accordingly, invited local resource persons include educators and educational managers from the Department of Education, Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST), Commission on Higher Education, Office of the Solicitor General, Ateneo Manila University, University of the Philippines, and Non-governmental organizations on adult, indigenous and Muslim education.
Mr. Galvez’s registration fee and accommodation for the 9th ICTED was sponsored by the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) in partnership with the Department of Education.
