PACT held Seminar in Celebration of the National Chemistry Week 2017

 

The Philippine Association for Chemistry for Teachers (PACT) in cooperation with the Philippine Normal University, The National Center for Teacher Education, conducted a seminar in celebration of the National Chemistry Week on March 4, 2017 at the HRD Auditorium, Philippine Normal University.  Dr. Ester B. Ogena, President of PNU gave the Welcome Remarks during the event. There were 130 PACT members who attended the seminar.  

One of the speakers was Dr. Voltaire Organo, Professor from University of the Philippines-Manila. He gave a talk on “Putting the  “O” in  Organic Chemistry”. The second speaker  was Mr. Garry Galvez of Taal National High School who shared his research study on “Metavisualizing Your Chemistry Classroom”.  Balik Scientist Prof. Corazon Salumbides, who is currently a resident scientist in the Science Centrum,   graced the event and showcased chemistry kits which are useful tools for  improving K to 12 chemistry instruction. The event served as the melting pot of chemistry teachers from private and public high schools and universities who shared experiences, challenges and researches  in the teaching and learning process in the chemistry classroom.
